TAMPA, Fla.--(
BUSINESS WIRE)--American Integrity Insurance Company, recognizing the dangers posed to Florida’s consumers with recent cybersecurity attacks, held a consumer and insurance agent roundtable recently to discuss ways to provide insurance coverage in the event consumers become victims of having their identities stolen. American Integrity offers Identity Recovery coverage that provides restoration case management services from a licensed private investigator and expense reimbursement up to $15,000. “This coverage protects policyholders from the growing number of data breaches in the U.S. The recent cyber attack on JPMorgan Chase, which compromised the customer information of 76 million households, is just another example of how clever cyber terrorists have become in hacking into America’s most secure organizations,” said Chris Black, Chris Black Insurance.

According to the Federal Trade Commission, Florida has the dubious distinction of being number one for identity theft among the 50 states. “We have a lot of senior citizens in Florida and we know this demographic is consistently at a higher risk of having their identity stolen. We offer an incredible product that could help quickly restore their lives in the event they experienced identity theft,” said Amy Brown, Senior Vice President of Insurance Products.
Once someone has stolen an identity they can use that information to take out loans, apply for credit cards, use benefits, and more. Most people don’t realize their identity has been stolen until they try to make a major purchase and they receive a credit denial or a collection notice. On average, it takes around 55 hours to restore an identity and can cost thousands of dollars, not to mention the emotional toll it takes on the victim.
American Integrity’s Identity Recovery coverage not only provides reimbursement for legal fees, credit reports, lost wages, mental health counseling, and more, it provides restoration case management. One of the major features of the coverage is that the policy provides coverage to hire a licensed private investigator to restore the policyholder’s identity. Identity Recovery coverage is included in American Integrity’s “Gold Reserve” endorsement and is also available for only $25 a year for those with an American Integrity homeowner’s policy.
“We believe Identity Recovery coverage is so important we decided to provide all employees at American Integrity this coverage at our cost. In fact, we’ve already had one employee who had to use it! With the increasing number of data breaches by big-name companies like Target, Home Depot, and Chase, the likelihood of one of our policyholder’s identity being compromised is quite high,” said Brown.
